Patriot Women blanked by Bucs 2-0
JOHNSON CITY, TN - Despite a career-high 11 shots by senior Yasmin Bunter, Francis Marion University was unable to find the back of the net as the Patriots fell to East Tennessee State University 2-0, Thursday evening (Sept. 19) in women's soccer action.
Francis Marion drops to 0-6-0 as the Patriots conclude a season-opening six-match road trip. FMU will play its home opener on Sunday at 2 p.m. against UNC Wilmington. The Patriots were undefeated (6-0-0) last season in their inaugural year on Hartzler Field.
Francis Marion led ETSU (4-3-1) in shots 17-13 and held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
FMU sophomore goalkeeper Taylor O'Berry registred five saves, while the Bucs' Anna Yancey made four stops.
Three of Bunter's shots were on frame and she hit the post 2:17 into the second half.
ETSU tallied both its scores in the opening half with Ellis Parsons scoring in the 20th minute and Kristi Davis in the 33rd minute.
Junior forward Elizabeth Asare came off the FMU bench to record a pair of shots, one of which was on goal.
