Quick OT! Findlay stuns Lady Jackets
CEDARVILLE, Ohio - It took just 17 seconds into overtime for Findlay to head in the game's only goal in a 1-0 result over Cedarville in a non-conference women's soccer match.
The Lady Jackets actually had the opening kickoff of the extra session. However, the Oilers immediately stole the ball in the circle, delivered a ball to the left flank, and a long cross was ultimately headed into the net off of the left post.
The outcome was the first shutout for UF this fall and the first time that Cedarville had been whitewashed.
It also ended an eight-match home unbeaten string (6-0-2) dating back to last year for the Lady Jackets. They won their first three this season.
Findlay, 5-2-1 overall, had a 10-5 advantage in shots overall and a 3-0 edge in shots on goal. However, the most telling stat was corner kicks where it was a whopping 14-0 bulge in favor of the Oilers.
CU drops to 6-3. The Lady Jackets return to Great Midwest Athletic Conference action on Thursday at Ohio Valley at 1:00 p.m.
