NORTHFIELD, Minn. — Saint Mary's University women's soccer coach Neil Cassidy learned first-hand Saturday afternoon why host St. Olaf was unbeaten in its first five games — the Oles are good.

Very good.

St. Olaf scored two goals 14 seconds apart in the game's opening six minutes and never looked back, as the Oles handed SMU a 3-0 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference setback.

Lindsay Howard got the Oles on the board at 5:28 of the first half, converting a penalty kick, and the senior forward was just getting warmed up, as she scored her second unassisted tally 14 seconds later to put St. Olaf up 2-0.

St. Olaf's Taylor Kuramoto pushed the Oles' lead to 3-0 before halftime, as she took a feed from Emma Crumley and beat SMU goalkeeper Cassie Hulett (Milwaukee, Wis.), who was busy in the Cardinal goal, stopping five first-half shots.

The Cardinals (0-2-0 MIAC, 1-5-0 overall) step out of conference play on Wednesday, hosting UW-La Crosse in a 7 p.m. nonconference game at Ochrymowycz Field.
