DENVER, Colo.:  In honor of their six seniors, the Rangers dropped the nationally ranked #22 Fort Lewis Skyhawks 6-3 on the day.  The win advances their overall record to 10-4-1 and RMAC record to 8-2-1. 

"It was senior day, so we had a little talk in the locker room before the game and we decided to leave everything on the field," commented senior defender Taylor White.  "I think we have a lot of passion and the seniors are starting to realize that we are close to the end, so it was great to get the win."

Fort Lewis scored first in the 20^th minute, but the Rangers were quick to answer with a goal of their own in the 26^th minute.

Senior Erin Kettmann crossed to junior Meghan Stuart at the right of the 18 yard box.  She bested her defender and the goalie, sending her shot on the ground through to the far left post.

The Skyhawks put another goal in shortly after to bring the score to 2-1 in the 28^thminute, but freshman Sade Akindele would answer the goal to bring the score to 2-2 going into the second half. 

Akindele and a defender headed toward the Fort Lewis goal when the keeper came out and attempted to clear the ball.  Her kick ricocheted off her own defender and popped out for Akindele to put away.

The Rangers owned the second half of the match however as they scored four more against Fort Lewis' one goal scored.

In the 50^th minute, freshman Sidny Otto worked for possession and passed to Stuart who beat her defenders in to the 10 yard box and passed to Akindele to the left of the box.  Akindele put her second goal of the match through to the left of the Skyhawk goalie to bring the Rangers up 3-2.

The next Ranger goal came three minutes after Akindele's.  Sophomore Kendal Kagawa played the ball in to Otto in the 18.  She turned and sent the ball to the right of the keeper and into the back of the net.

Fort Lewis scored their last goal of the match in the 55^th minute of play, but the Rangers shut them down throughout the rest of the match, outshooting the Skyhawks 10-8 in the second half.

For Stuart's second goal of the match, Otto beat a defender and moved to the middle of the field.  She passed to the left of the 10 to Akindele who sent a short cross over to Stuart.  Stuart put her only touch through to the back of the net to bring the Rangers up 5-3.

Regis was not finished, however, and would put one more goal in to finish out 6-3 on the day.  Akindele took a touch at the top of the box and passed to senior Marissa Davis who sent the ball through for the goal.

Junior Ellen Augsburger spent all 90:00 in goal, totaling four saves on the day. 

"Emotions were really working in our favor today," commented senior midfielder Katie King.  "I was really proud of the effort the team put out today."

"We persevered through their goals and kept taking it to them," she finished.  "They just could not answer us… it was a great feeling."

The Rangers will travel to Grand Junction, Colo. on Sunday, October 21 to take on the Colorado Mesa Mavericks at 12:00 PM.
