Rangers Shutout #7 Ranked Riverhawks
Denver, Colorado: Closing out opening weekend of play for the Regis University Rangers men’s soccer team with a 2-1 victory over the No. 7 ranked Northeastern State University Riverhawks. The Rangers remain unblemished at 2-0 on the season.
All three goals of the match were scored in the first half and left the second half for a defensive battle.
Senior forward Martin Maybin (Belfast, Northern Ireland) was the man of the match scoring both Ranger goals to give his team the shutout. Maybin scored his first goal in the 14th minute of play off a through ball from freshman forward Sawyer Lincoln (Colorado Springs, Colorado) slotting it far post past the Riverhawks goalkeeper.
NSU would answer shortly after in the 25th minute to tie the score at 1-1. Maybin answered quickly scoring the game-winning goal in the 35th minute after receiving a pass from sophomore midfielder Jake Gilchrist-Dudley on the six-yard box and knocking it to the far right post.
Sophomore goalkeeper Connor Adkisson (Federal Way, Washington) recorded the shutout, starting and playing the first 45 minutes. Junior goalkeeper Christian Nicolosi (Highlands Ranch, Colorado) finished out the game in the second half. Both keepers made four saves.
