Ravens Strong First Not Enough vs.Haverford
ROSEMONT – The Rosemont College men's soccer team scored the first goal and stayed within one goal of Haverford College this evening at the half. But the Fords (2-1) took over all of the momentum and much of the ball control in the second half to outscore the Ravens (0-3) 5-0 in the second half to go home 8-2 winners.
After 8 ½ minutes were played, Harrison Santangelo fed a pass to Kaushik Dhanyamraju on a breakaway, and "Cheese" made the pass count, launching the ball into the lower-right corner of the goal to give the Ravens the early 1-0 lead.
Haverford countered with three straight goals within a span of 1:12 as Sam Yarosh sandwiched two goals around a Ben Field score for the Fords to put the visitors up 3-1.
The Ravens fired up another goal, this off the boot of Javier Alvarado in the 31st minute. The goal was a beautiful arc over the Haverford keeper from 25 yards out to get the Ravens to within a goal, trailing only 3-2, which was the score going into the half.
Just over two minutes into the second half, Haverford's Sam Yarosh hit for a hat trick to give Haverford a two-goal cushion, 4-2. The Fords would put the game away with four more goals in the rest of the half.
Zach Bowe faced 18 shots on goal, saving 10. The Ravens had three shots with both shots on goal ending up in the net.
The Ravens will try to find that elusive first win of the season when they next take the field, on Tuesday, 9/8 at Penn State – Abington. The non-conference game is slated for a 4pm start.
