Razorbacks fall at Auburn, 3-1
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Razorback soccer team (11-6, 4-5) dropped its final road Southeastern Conference (SEC) road match of the regular season at Auburn (5-8-4, 1-5-3), 3-1 on Friday night.
Auburn struck first in the 26th minute when Cassie Ramsier scored her first goal of the season to lead the Razorbacks, 1-0. The lead would not last long, junior defender Allie Tripp score her third goal of the season in the 38th minute of play to tie the match at 1-1. The match would remain tied into the intermission.
Junior Jeriann Okoro was credited with her fifth assist of the season for her effort on Tripp’s goal. Senior Taylor Green recorded two shots on goal for the night and sophomore Ashleigh Ellenwood recorded another, but the Razorbacks were held off the scoreboard for the remainder of the match.
To begin the second half, Auburn’s Kala Faulkner would also score her first goal of the season to retake the lead form the Razorbacks in the 50th minute, to make the score 2-1, Auburn. The Tigers would strike again in the 87th minute of play to claim their first SEC win of the year.
The Razorbacks return to host Georgia on Sunday in Fayetteville at Razorback Field for senior day to honor seniors Jessie Givens, Taylor Green, Evan Palmer and Yvonne DesJarlais. The match is slated for a 1 p.m. kick. The match will be featured on CSS as part of the SEC’s television package.
