Rice Owls' Sunday Match vs. TAMCC Cancelled
HOUSTON - The Rice and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer game, originally slated for Sunday (Sept. 7) has been cancelled due to weather conditions in the Houston area.
There is no official result. The Owls' season record holds at 3-1-1 and A&MCC remains 1-2-1.
The game began at 1 pm as scheduled, but the teams were ordered off the field in the 23rd minute due to lightning in the area. Heavy rain soon followed, forcing a cancellation. There was no score as the teams left the field. As per NCAA rules, play must reach the 70th minute to be considered for an official result.
The Rice soccer team next returns to action on Friday (Sept. 12). The Owls play at SEC power Arkansas in the team's second to last non-conference game of the season. Start time is set for 7 pm in Fayetteville, Ark.
