‘Roos Fall 1-0 to No. 5 Cowgirls

<p><strong>(Stillwater, Okla.) – </strong>Friday night, the Kansas City women’s soccer team (0-1) came close to upsetting No. 5 Oklahoma State (1-0) on the road, but fell 1-0 to start the 2012 season. </p>
<p>In the first half, the game remained scoreless as keeper Jami Finnell recorded nine saves to keep the Cowgirls at bay.</p>
<p>Later in the match, still scoreless, OSU struck first via an own goal off a free kick by defender Kelsey Bass in the 74th minute. </p>
<p>As the second half continued with the Cowgirls still leading 1-0, the Kangaroos were held scoreless as OSU squeaked by for the win. </p>
<p>In light of the loss, Finnell tied her own team single-match record for saves with 16. </p>
<p>The Blue & Gold will look to bounce back Sunday afternoon in its home opener as it will welcome in Oral Roberts. Last season, Kansas City defeated the former Summit League foe on the road in double overtime, 2-1, to clinch a spot in the league tournament.</p>
