Royds named Patriot League GK of Week
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After shutting out Temple and Fordham on the road, Lehigh women's soccer junior Miranda Royds has been named Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week, as announced on Monday. Royds posted her second and third shutouts of the season over the weekend, stopping all 10 shots sent her way in 220 minutes of action, with both games going to double overtime.
This marks Royds' first-career Patriot League weekly award, and the Mountain Hawks' first weekly award of the season.
Royds has now allowed just five goals in 630:55 of action this season. She began the week with six saves at Temple Thursday, including a couple impressive diving stops, one in the first half and another in the second. Then at Fordham Sunday, she made four saves, three in the first and a key second-half stop off a corner kick, to help preserve the Mountain Hawks' second straight draw and fourth of the year.
For the season, Royds owns an impressive 0.71 goals against average and 86.8 save percentage.
After four straight road contests, Lehigh returns home for three in a row, beginning on Friday vs. UMBC at 6 p.m. The Mountain Hawks also host Saint Joseph's next Sunday at 3 p.m.
