RUWS Places 5 on NSCAA All-Regional Team
Women’s Soccer Places Five on NSCAA NCAA DII All-South Central Region Teams; Davis and Cahill to First
SALISBURY, Md.: Regis women's soccer placed five Rangers on the NSCAA NCAA DII All-South Central Region Teams on Wednesday. Senior Marissa Davis and juniorAlison Cahill received first team honors, freshmen Sade Akindele and Sidny Otto garnered second team selections and junior Meghan Stuart was named to the Third Team.
Davis netted nine goals while assisting on seven others for 25 points on the season. The midfielder scored three game-winning goals and maintained a .415 shot on goal percentage after putting 27 of her 65 shots on goal. A native of Golden, Colo., Davis finished her career at Regis with an All-RMAC First Team selection as well as being named to the All-Tournament team and Daktronics All-Region First Team.
A native of Boise, Idaho, Cahill has been named RMACs Defender of the Year for the past two consecutive seasons. She started in all 21 matches for the Rangers this year and helped them to a 1.80 goals against average as a central defender. She was an All-RMAC First Team selection, as well as being named to the RMAC All-Tournament team and was a Daktronics All-American Honorable Mention pick.
Freshman Sade Akindele was given Daktronics All-South Central Region Second Team honors after leading the Rangers with 14 goals, 34 points and a .651 shot on goal percentage after putting 28 of her 43 shots on goal. She was named to the All-RMAC First Team and All-Tournament Team, while also being given Freshman of the Year accolades.
Otto has had a breakout 2012 freshman campaign after netting 11 goals and gathering five assists for 27 points. A Highlands Ranch, Colo. native, Otto leads the team with four game-winning goals and has amassed a .585 shot on goal percentage. She garnered All-RMAC Second Team status.
Stuart has scored seven goals and leads the Rangers with nine assists in 2012. The native of Arvada, Colo. has netted two game-winning goals and maintains a .463 shot on goal percentage after putting 31 of her 53 shots on goal. She was an All-RMAC Second Team selection this year.
