Saints Fall at Marist, 2-1
Tudor Brata's re-directed cross in the 59th minute proved to be the game-winner as Marist defeated Siena Soccer 2-1 in Poughkeepsie. Senior captain James Beeston scored on a penalty kick for the Saints.
The teams traded goals in a 2-minute span to open the scoring midway through the first half. Marist (3-12, 2-5) struck first on Dylan MacVane's first goal of the year in the 23rd minute.
A foul in the box on Marist in the 25th minute allowed the Saints (6-8-1, 2-4-1) to tie it. Beeston was the beneficiary, connecting on his team-high sixth goal of the season.
The Saints had some chances late but couldn't rally. Siena out-shot the Red Foxes 14-12 and held a 5-4 edge in corners.
Adam Myers made six saves for Siena, while Anthony Sokalski stopped five shots for Marist.
The Saints host Rider for Senior Day Saturday at 1 p.m. Prior to kickoff the team will hold a special pregame ceremony honoring the careers of its six seniors.
