Saints Secure Milestone Win at Manhattan
Sophomore captain Danilo Markovic netted his first collegiate goal as Siena Soccer won its third straight with a 1-0 shutout at Manhattan. The victory marked the 100th MAAC Regular Season win in program history.
Siena (8-5, 3-1) also surpassed its win total from last season as the Saints have bounced back nicely following a four-match losing streak.
Markovic headed in a corner from junior Tom Allen in the 23rd minute for the decisive tally. The helper was Allen’s conference-leading fifth assist of the year.
Manhattan (1-7-1, 0-3) held edges in both shots (12-7) and corners (9-2), but freshman goalkeeper Josh Weiss made two saves to post his fourth clean sheet of the year for the Saints which improved to 17-5-5 all-time against the Jaspers.
Siena can achieve its second separate four-match win streak this fall with a win on Wednesday. The Saints welcome Cansius to Loudonville for a 3 p.m. kickoff.
