Salm Leads Warhawks to Road Win at Monmouth
Michael Salm (Grafton, Wis./Grafton) scored the game-winning goal in the 57th minute as the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer team improved to 8-4-3 with a 1-0 victory over Monmouth College at Peacock Park Wednesday in Monmouth, Illinois.
Nine different players recorded a shot for the Warhawks as they outshot their host 14-3 under cold and rainy conditions.
Salm's goal was his first of the season and came after a feverish attack by the Warhawks to start the second half. UW-W tallied four corner kicks and two shots in the first six minutes of the second frame.
All three of the Scots' shots came in the second half and only one was on goal.
Chris Lucatorto (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) played all 90 minutes in goal for the Warhawks to earn his second solo shutout of the season.
UW-W will venture to Marian University on Saturday for their next match at 2 p.m. in Fond du Lac. Sunday the Warhawks will host UW-Platteville for the Shaymus Guinn Cup at Fiskum Field at 1 p.m.
