MORGANTOWN, W.Va.  – Forward Kate Schwindel tied two school records and Frances Silva netted a pair of goals in leading West Virginia past High Point, 6-0, Sunday afternoon at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.

Schwindel finished the afternoon with two goals – the first multi-goal game of her career, and three assists, including the game-winning helper. Her three assists in a match tie the school record, becoming only the fourth player to do so.

The sophomore’s seven points also tied a single match record. Schwindel’s seven-point outing is the first since Ashley Banks posted three goals and one assist against Georgetown in 2007.

“I can’t say enough about how hard Kate works out there,” said coach Nikki Izzo-Brown. “So, it’s almost not surprising to us as a coaching staff to see her put up these numbers.

“She was the Big East Rookie of the Year last fall. And when she makes her mind up (to go score), she is hard to stop. She can do some damage.”

West Virginia (4-3-3) held a 1-0 lead after 45 minutes before putting together five goals in the second half – also tying a WVU record for most goals in a half. In the 22nd minute, junior Kara Blosser scored her first goal as a Mountaineer on a header.
