<p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">The South Dakota State women's soccer team was bested by Wisconsin 5-0 in the weekend finale on Sunday...</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Both teams entered the game with a 1-0-0 record after wins on Friday afternoon. The Jackrabbits defeated Green Bay 2-0, while Wisconsin edged Notre Dame 1-0.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">The Badgers attacked early and often, scoring the first of two first-half goals in the 22nd minute. The forward hit the shot from outside the box and lofted it into the right corner of the net, just out of the outstretched reach of&nbsp;Elisa Stamatakis.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Fifteen minutes later, Wisconsin added to its lead with a shot from the top of the box.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">The two teams played the final eight minutes without a score.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Wisconsin controlled the first half offensively with the advantage in shots (12-3), shots on goal (4-1) corner kickers (4-1), offsides (3-1) and fouls (3-2).</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Diana Potterveld&nbsp;led the Jackrabbit attack with two shots and one shot on goal.&nbsp;Alyssa Brazil&nbsp;registered the other SDSU shot.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Stamatakis made two saves in the first half.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Along with Stamatakis,&nbsp;Megan Huegli,&nbsp;Darci Miller&nbsp;and Dani Patterson played all 45 first-half minutes for the Jacks.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">The second half started in similar fashion to the first, as the Badgers scored 11 minutes into the half on a corner kick-header combination.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Eight minutes later, Wisconsin used another header to extend the lead.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Wisconsin added its fifth goal in the 66th minute.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">"I thought we started the game very well and did some good things periodically throughout the game," head coach&nbsp;Lang Wedemeyer&nbsp;said. "But when you play a quality team like Wisconsin, they make you pay for your mistakes. Hopefully we will learn a lot from this game and be better next week."</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">The Badgers finished with the advantage in shots (23-5), shots on goal (10-1) and corner kicks (7-1).</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Wisconsin committed eight fouls and was whistled for offsides five times, while SDSU committed four fouls and was offsides once.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Christa Nyblom&nbsp;and&nbsp;Stacy Guijarro&nbsp;attempted one shot apiece in the second half.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Stamatakis made five saves in 74 minutes of play.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">SDSU played its second game without injured seniors</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">&nbsp;</span><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica, sans-serif;">St&eacute;phanie B&eacute;rub&eacute;</span><span style="color: #333333;">&nbsp;and&nbsp;Courtney Higgins.</span></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;">Next the Jackrabbits travel to the Kansas Invitational Tournament for two games.
