SEC - Hopkins receives 2nd straight POTW
VUCOMMODORES.COM - NASHVILLE - Fresh off a stellar performance in a road win over No. 9 Tennessee, Vanderbilt's Haley Hopkins garnered SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second week in a row, the league office announced on Monday.
Last week, Hopkins earned the SEC Freshman of the Week recognition after her two-goal performance in the Commodores' 5-0 win over Georgia.
Hopkins' two-goal outing against No. 9 Tennessee gave her the fourth multi-goal performance of the year. Hopkins scored her 10th and 11th goals of the season in the team's 3-1 victory over the Volunteers on Sunday.
Hopkins has been key in the Commodores' 13-game winning streak and has excelled thus far in conference play. The redshirt freshman leads the SEC in points (13) and goals (6) during conference play.
Hopkins has poured in multi-goal games against Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee to give her three such games in conference play. Her other multi-goal game came against North Alabama earlier this season.
Meanwhile, Hopkins' four game-winning goals rank seventh in the nation.
Hopkins and the Dores take the field next on Friday at home against No. 12 South Carolina, Vanderbilt's third straight ranked matchup. The game will be televised on SEC Network+.
