Second Half Rally Falls Short At Auburn
AUBURN, Ala. – Despite a furious comeback in the second half, No. 12 Arkansas dropped its match against No. 13 Auburn 3-2 to fall to 13-3-0 overall and 6-2 in the Southeastern Conference.
All five goals in the match were scored in the second half, with freshman midfielder Stefani Doyle and senior midfielder Lindsey Mayo finding the back of the net for the Razorbacks. Doyle scored her sixth goal of the season during the 68th minute and Lindsey Mayo’s seventh goal this year came during the 88th minute of play.
However, Arkansas would fall short as Brooke Ramsier, Kristen Dodson and Casie Ramsier each scored a goal to lift the Tigers to an 11-4-0 overall record and 7-1 SEC mark.
“Credit to Auburn. They were deserving winners today,” head coach Colby Hale said. “We will get back, regroup and get back to some things that make us special.”
Senior midfielder Claire Kelley would notch two assists in the contest, and freshman forward Reid Sibley would also tally her third helper of the season. Kelley currently leads the Razorbacks in assists with 12, a career-high mark. Her 24 points this season is also a team-leading stat line.
Arkansas will next face Missouri during its penultimate home game of the season on Thursday, Oct. 20. Kickoff at Razorback Field will be at 7 p.m.
Single-game tickets are $5 and free for children 17 and under. Gates open one hour prior to kickoff.
