Siena's Dorado Makes History
LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Women’s Soccer junior goalkeeper Taylor Dorado has set a new program record by being named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week for a sixth time in her illustrious career. The Guilderland, New York native breaks a tie with Laura Ettinger ’12 for the most MAAC Defensive Player of the Week selections in program history.
Dorado earns MAAC weekly honors for the second time this season, after previously being named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 17. She led the Saints to a pair of 1-0 shutout victories last week over Fairfield and Iona while totaling nine saves to receive weekly acclaim. On Wednesday, Dorado made six saves to lead Siena to its first conference victory of the season in overtime against the Stags. She made three more stops Saturday to record her second straight clean sheet in the win over the Gaels.
Dorado currently leads the MAAC and ranks 12th nationally with 80 saves, and stands second in the league in goals against average (0.95), save percentage (.860), and shutouts (five). She has been phenomenal during conference play, allowing a total of just one goal over 490:26 spanning five matches (including three overtime contests), while leading the league in saves (39), goals against average (0.18), and save percentage (.975).
The junior already ranks second all-time in program history in career goals against average (1.01), third in shutouts (16), tied for third in both wins (24) and save percentage (.827), and sixth in saves (230).
Dorado and the Saints return to action Wednesday for a 3 p.m. kickoff at Saint Peter’s.
