Siena's Krohn, Adams Earn MAAC Weekly Awards
LOUDONVILLE, NY – Following a 2-0 opening week in which they outscored their opponents by a combined 7-0 margin, Siena Women’s Soccer earned league recognition Tuesday. Junior Carrie Krohn was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week and classmate Leslie Adams was heralded the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week.
This marks the first time Siena has boasted both the MAAC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week in the same week in eight years, dating back to Brittany Pfaff (Offensive) and Taylor Booth (Defensive) on Aug. 26, 2013. Moreover, Adams is the Saints’ first MAAC Defensive Player of the Week since Taylor Dorado on Oct. 29, 2018.
Krohn tallied five points and was involved in each of Siena’s game-winning goals last week. The local product from nearby Schoharie, New York scored the game-winner in Thursday’s season-opener vs. Iona, while assisting on the decisive tally in the 87th minute of Saturday’s victory over Canisius. Krohn registered her first collegiate multi-goal effort in the triumph over the Gaels.
Adams impressed in goal last week, recording clean sheets in each of her first two collegiate starts. The Collegeville, Pennsylvania native made six saves to register the shutout win in her collegiate debut Thursday vs. Iona, while adding five more saves in Saturday’s clean sheet against Canisius.
Krohn, Adams and the Saints return to action this afternoon with a 2 p.m. kickoff at Saint Peter’s on ESPN3.
