Siena's McGlynn Named MAAC Rookie of Week
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – For the second time in three weeks, Siena Soccer freshman midfielder Conor McGlynn has been named the MAAC Rookie of the Week. The Middle Village, New York standout tallied four points on a game-winning goal and two assists over two matches last week.
On Wednesday, McGlynn assisted on each of Siena’s second half goals in a 3-3 tie vs. Canisius, which clinched the Saints at MAAC Tournament berth. On Saturday, he scored the game-winning goal in a 3-0 win at Iona which secured Siena a top-three seed in the upcoming MAAC Championships, while also keeping the Saints’ regular season title hopes alive.
McGlynn has made a major impact during his impressive rookie season donning the Green and Gold, tallying 12 points while appearing in all 18 of Siena’s matches starting 17. He’s tallied a pair of game-winning goals, and leads all Division I freshmen while ranking tied for 13th nationally with eight assists.
McGlynn and the Saints return to action Wednesday when they play for a shot at the program’s first MAAC Regular Season Championship when they host rival Marist at 2 p.m. at Siena Turf Field. Siena would clinch the regular season title with a win, combined with a Rider loss or tie vs. Saint Peter’s, and a Quinnipiac loss at Fairfield.
