Skyhawks reenter Division II women’s soccer Top 10 at No. 7
KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Fort Lewis College women’s soccer team (8-0-1 overall, 5-0-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) jumped 11 spots to No. 7 in the fifth NCAA Division II poll of the season, released earlier today by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and Continental Tire.
The Skyhawks, ranked No. 18 in the nation last week, won all three of its games last week by 2-1 margins: at home vs. Colorado Mesa on Wednesday, on the road at UC-Colorado Springs on Friday, and at Adams State on Sunday.
Three RMAC teams are ranked again this week: No. 7 Fort Lewis, No. 13 Metro State (8-1-0, 4-1-0), and No. 20 Colorado Mines (7-1-0, 3-1-0).
Additionally, Fort Lewis ranks sixth in NCAA-II in winning percentage (.944) and 16th in scoring offense (2.89 goals per game). Sophomore forward Emma Cannis ranks 14th in assists (five).
The Skyhawks embark on a two-game road trip this weekend, when they travel to New Mexico Highlands (2-5-0, 1-3-0) at 7 p.m. Friday and Colorado Mesa (5-4-0, 4-1-0) at 1 p.m. Sunday.
