Smith, Tuvesson Earn Patriot League Honors
September 18, 2017
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men’s soccer had a pair of Patriot League Weekly winners as the league revealed its award winners on Monday. Senior forward Doyle Tuvesson was named the Offensive Player of the Week and sophomore goalkeeper Will Smith was tabbed the Goalkeeper of the Week.
Tuvesson powered Lehigh (3-2) to a 3-0 victory last Thursday at Penn. The junior contributed to all three tallies on the night as he had the primary assists on the first and third goals, while scoring the second goal himself.
Smith held down the fort on the defensive end as the sophomore recorded his first clean sheet of the season in his 90 minutes against Penn. Smith and the defensive ended their three-game road trip by pitching a shutout in the last three-consecutives halves en route to a 2-1 record during that span.
Smith and Tuvesson are the second and third Mountain Hawks to garner weekly awards this season. Bratislav Petkovic earned Rookie of the Week honors on September 11.
The Mountain Hawks return home on Tuesday night to face Seton Hall at 6 p.m. before hosting Army West Point on Saturday at 7 p.m. in their Patriot League opener. Both contests will be streamed live on the Patriot League Network.
