March 27, 2012
The SMU women's soccer team has announced its 2012 spring schedule, which consists of five teams that had a combined record of 66-38-7, including three NCAA tournament teams and one conference champion and two conference tournament champions.
SMU will begin the spring slate with a home match against Midwestern State on March 24 at 2 p.m. MSU was 14-6-2 this past season, won the Lone Star Conference tournament and reached the second round of the Division II Women's Soccer Championship.
The Mustangs will then face rival TCU at the Dallas International Girls Cup on April 6 before a pair of road contests against the Big XII's top two teams.
SMU will start with Oklahoma State on April 14. The Cowgirls finished 22-2-2 in 2011, winning the Big XII regular-season crown with a 6-0-2 record and reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship before falling to eventual-champion Stanford, 2-1.
A week later, SMU will be in College Station, Texas to face the Big XII's reigning conference tournament champions, Texas A&M. The Aggies were 16-6-2 last season, won the Big XII tournament with a 1-0 win over Oklahoma State, and reached the second round of the NCAA tournament.
The spring schedule will conclude with Oklahoma making a trip to Dallas on April 28 for a 2 p.m. contest. SMU defeated the Sooners 1-0 in Norman, Okla., on Aug. 28.
