Soccer defeats UTSA 2-1
HOUSTON- The University of Houston soccer team defeated UTSA, 2-1, in their final non-conference match Sunday afternoon. Alexis Weaver scored the game winner in the 73nd minute.
"We lost some of our rhythm having seven days off and from being inside a lot this week due to weather," Head Coach Chris Pfau said. "We still wanted to come out sharp though. A sign of a good team is when things don't go their way they find a way to win. Things were not going our way, but we found a way to make it work and got the win."
The Roadrunners came out aggressive and would get on the scoreboard first after sophomore midfielder Charloette Husoe put one in over Cami Koski's head in the 9th minute.
Houston wouldn't settle and equalized the match in the 21st minute after junior midfielder Kylie Cook found sophomore forward Kayla Walker down field for a shot to the right corner.
Sophomore forward Alexis Weaver would end scoring with her first goal of the season in the 73rd minute off a pass from senior forward Katelyn Rhodes.
Koski would get her third win of the season, with six saves on the match.
