St. Cloud State blanks Sioux Falls on Oct. 4
The St. Cloud State University soccer team (5-2-2, 4-1-2 NSIC) returned to the win column on Sunday, Oct. 4 with a 3-0 victory at the University of Sioux Falls in Sioux Falls, S.D.
SCSU's freshman Maria Kass got things going early with the game winning goal at 4:36. The goal was Kass' sixth of the season and it was her 13th point of the year. She leads the Huskies in both goals scored (6) and points scored (13) this season.
The Huskies pushed the lead to 2-0 with a goal by Alexis Starr at 33:11. Alyson Fisher charted the solo assist on the play for the Huskies. SCSU finished the game's scoring in the second half with a goal by Ally Herod at 78:11. The assist on the play was provided by Haley Greving. This was Herod's first goal of the season, while it was Starr's second goal of 2015.
In the nets, Brittany Plombon had two saves in the nets for SCSU to earn the shutout. Plombon now has three shutouts to her credit this season for the Huskies and her GAA rate is an impressive 0.97. Of note, SCSU is 4-1-2 in its last seven games played this season.
The Huskies will continue their schedule on Oct. 9 with a 7 p.m. game against Augustana University at Husky Stadium. SCSU will complete the weekend with a 1 p.m. match against Wayne State at home on Sunday, Oct. 11. Tickets for both games are available at the gate.
