St. Cloud State Blanks Sioux Falls
St. Cloud, Minn. - The St. Cloud State women's soccer team earned their second win in the NSIC over the University of Sioux Falls today at Husky Stadium. The Huskies improve to 3-3-1 overall and 2-2-0 in the NSIC with the 2-0 shutout victory over the Cougars. With the loss the Cougars drop to 0-7 overall and 0-5 in the NSIC.
The Huskies took the lead early in the first period as Junior Kara Dahmen (Waunakee, Wis.) scored for the Huskies at the 8:00 mark. Dahmen was assisted by freshman Gabby Fleck (Lee's Summit, Mo.) and senior Laura Moline (Eden Prairie, Minn.).
SCSU took a 2-0 lead at 68:46 as freshman Michelle Cornell (Waunakee, Wis.) recorded her fist collegiate goal, scoring off of freshman Faith Bila's (Overland Park, Kan.) many corner kicks.
The Huskies finished with 19 shots, including eight on goal. Dahmen led the Huskies with four shots and two on goal, while Bila followed with three shots all on goal.
Sioux Falls totaled six shots in the match with three on goal.
Junior Kenzie Hanzlik (Stillwater, Minn.) records the win at goalkeeper for the Huskies, improving her record to 2-3-1. Hanzlik played 76:37 minutes and compiled two saves, while Julia Clifford (Ham Lake, Minn.) played 13:23 minutes with one save to record the shutout.
Sioux Falls' Corrin Cook had six saves.
