St. Cloud State falls to #1 ranked UCM
The St. Cloud State University soccer team (0-2-1, 0-0-0 NSIC) lost a hard-fought 3-0 decision against #1 ranked Central Missouri (3-0) on Thursday, Sept. 6 in Warrensburg, Mo.
The Huskies and Jennies battled to a 0-0 draw after the first half of play in Missouri, before top rated Central Missouri scored three goals in the match's second half to gain the victory.
Central Missouri opened the scoring at 47:33 with a goal by Courtney Killian. UCM pushed its lead to 2-0 at 73:54 with a goal by Jada Scott and then ended the scoring at 84:11 with a marker by Kelsey Mueller.
In the contest, UCM outshot the Huskies 25-7 as SCSU netminder Zoe Welsh made eight saves in the match. Brooke Bares and Monica Majeski paced SCSU with two shots apiece in the contest.
SCSU will continue its 2018 season with a home match at Husky Stadium against Minnesota Duluth on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. Tickets for this NSIC showdown are available at the gate and all SCSU students get into the match for FREE!
