St. Cloud State's Espinosa Gains NSIC Honor
St. Cloud State University senior forward Kara Espinosa (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka H.S.) has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 22.
Espinosa led the Huskies to a weekend sweep in NSIC action with a 2-1 win at Northern State and a 1-0 win at MSU Moorhead . She scored the game winning goal in both games for the Huskies, which improved their 2014 record to 3-3, 2-1 NSIC.
Espinosa broke a 1-1 tie at NSU with the game winner at 80:22 on an assist byTaige Thoreson and provided the lone goal in the Huskies' win at MSU Moorhead with a marker at 62:18 on an assist from Faith Bila. The goals marked the first points for Espinosa this season.
In her four seasons with the Huskies, Espinosa has scored eight goals and six assists.
St. Cloud State (3-3, 2-1 NSIC) will continue its 2014 season on Sept. 27 with a conference game at Winona State. On Sept. 28, the Huskies will complete the NSIC weekend with a road game at Upper Iowa.
