Stony Brook, N.Y. - Junior Taryn Schoenbeck (Newark, Del.) scored her first goal of the season, but it was not enough Sunday as the visiting Sacred Heart Pioneers notched a 2-1 victory over women's soccer at LaValle Stadium.

Schoenbeck's goal came at a crucial moment with the Seawolves down 1-0 late in the match. The junior collected a loose ball at the top of the Sacred Heart box and fired a quick shot, which crept under the arms of keeper Sydney Judkins and into the back of the net in the 81st minute.

The goal snapped the Seawolves' scoring drought at just over 380 consecutive minutes dating back to the season opener against Iona.

The teams appeared to be headed into overtime, when the Pioneers snatched a victory in the 85th minute courtesy of a Lauren Boccio goal. Kristin Verrette accounted for Sacred Heart's other goal, which came in the 50th minute off a feed from Jillian Picinich.

The Pioneers (2-1-0) outshot the Seawolves (1-4-0) by an 11-9 margin and attempted all six corner kicks in the match. Stony Brook keeper Chelsea Morales (Temecula, Calif.) turned away six shots on the day, while Judkins stopped five.

The Seawolves will wrap up their three-game homestand on Friday, Sept. 9 when they host Long Island University. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
