September 30, 2013
Stony Brook, N.Y. – Stony Brook men’s soccer senior Will Casey (Setauket, N.Y.) has been named the America East Player of the Week after his game-winning goal against Northeastern, the conference announced Monday.
Casey broke a scoreless tie in the 66th minute by heading in a pass from sophomore Martin Giordano (Weston, Fla.) to make the score 1-0 against the defending CAA champion Huskies. The #Seawolves then held on for the important victory.
This is Casey’s second game-winning goal of the year, both in 1-0 wins, and his team-leading fourth goal on the season. The player of the week honor was the first of Casey's career.
The win brought the Seawolves to 4-4-0 with three shutout wins. Stony Brook’s next match will be its first conference game of the season when the #Seawolves host Albany on Friday, Oct. 4 at LaValle Stadium at 7 p.m.
