Complete Patriot League Release
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - For her success in the classroom combined with her contributions on the field, Lehigh women's soccer junior Amanda Stratton has been named to the Academic All-Patriot League team, as announced on Wednesday. Stratton owns a stellar 3.84 GPA in Bioengineering, while playing in all 18 games in the midfield this season.
In the classroom, the Dublin, Ohio native posted a perfect 4.0 GPA last fall, earning a spot on the Dean's List in each of her first four semesters at Lehigh. She has garnered the Faculty Athletics Council Award every season and has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll every year as well.
On the field, Stratton has been a key member of the Mountain Hawks, primarily seeing action as a defensive midfielder. Playing in all 18 games, with five starts, Stratton started Patriot League games against Colgate, Army West Point and Loyola. She helped the Lehigh defense pitch 12 shutouts this season, owning one of the nation's top shutout percentages with shutouts in 66.7 percent of its games. The defense allowed just 12 goals in 18 games (0.67 per contest). Stratton was part of a defensive unit which opened the season with eight straight shutouts as Lehigh was the last team in the nation to allow a goal, with the shutout streak reaching 832:31 dating back to 2015.
Stratton and the Mountain Hawks finished a memorable season with 11 wins, which included a school-record eight game unbeaten streak to begin the season. Lehigh's seven-game winning streak also tied a school mark. The Mountain Hawks handed Bucknell their first loss of the season, a win that clinched Lehigh its first Patriot League Tournament berth since 2012. The team earned the No. 3 seed in the league tournament, its highest seeding since 2010.
