TDS Men's Division I Top 25: Nov. 2

There is a new No. 1 in the TopDrawerSoccer Men’s Top 25 Ranking.

Wake Forest moves into the top spot following a 4-2 win over Louisville on Friday to close out the regular season. The Demon Deacons with a 14-1-2 record and a 6-0-1 mark in conference games. Wake Forest has won five games in a row heading into the ACC tournament next week.

Creighton lost 2-1 to Xavier on Wednesday, which opened up the door for Wake Forest to slip into the top spot. The Jays fall down to No. 2 in the rankings for this week, which is the first time since Sept. 6 that Creighton was not in the top spot in the TDS rankings. Creighton ends the regular season on Thursday against No. 6 Georgetown.

The loss for the Jays means that No. 9 Denver is the last undefeated team in Division I men’s soccer. Denver closes out the regular season on Nov. 7 against IPFW.

Stanford stays at No. 3. The Cardinal defeated San Diego State 3-1 and Oregon State 2-0 in the past week. On Monday, Stanford closes out its road games of the season with a battle against Washington and a chance to clinch the Pac-12 title outright. A win or draw against the Huskies and Jeremy Gunn’s squad will be the Pac-12 champions for a second consecutive season.

Clemson and North Carolina stay at No. 4 and No. 5 respectively.

The big move of the week came from UCLA. The Bruins went on the road and defeated Akron on Sunday in a crucial game for the postseason hopes of the Southern California side. UCLA drops in at No. 21 this week.
