TDS Women's Division I Top 25: August 21
The top powers in the country emerged unscathed during the opening weekend of the women's Division I season.
Aside from a handful of clashes between Top 25 sides, UCLA, Stanford, Florida State and Penn State were all among the sides to win two games in three days in the opening weekend.
Penn State remains on top after defeating BYU on Friday night, following that up with a 3-0 defeat of Hofstra on Sunday.
No. 2 Stanford enjoyed a productive trip to Wisconsin, scoring a combined nine goals in two wins over Marquette and Wisconsin.
Pac-12 rivals UCLA moved into the No. 5 spot, bombarding their opponents with 10 goals in wins against San Diego State at home, and a road victory over Long Beach State on Sunday night.
The Duke-North Carolina marquee matchup on Friday night saw the Tar Heels emerge as overtime winners, defeating the Blue Devils by a 2-1 score. California is now ranked at No. 6, as the Golden Bears scored twice in the final 10 minutes to win 2-1 against No. 13 Santa Clara.
National runner up West Virginia also enjoyed a winning start on the road, as the No. 3 ranked team in the country defeated No. 11 Georgetown 1-0 in the nation's capital.
