TDS Women's Team of the Week: Aug. 30
While it’s early in the season, the Division I women’s campaign has already produced entertaining, high-scoring encounters.
Two examples come to mind from the weekend. Florida won on the road against UCLA in a 4-3 shootout, as Savannah Jordan scored twice and had a hand in a third tally. Back east, the TDS Player of the Week was at the forefront of BYU’s road win in State College.
Ashley Hatch scored a hat trick as the Cougars beat the defending champions 3-2 at Jeffrey Field. It was a nice bounce back from last Monday’s home loss against Nebraska.

TDS Player of the Week: Ashley Hatch, BYU
Team of the Week (Aug. 22-28)
GK Sam Miller, Lehigh – Playing in her first two college games, Miller didn’t concede a goal, making eight saves in a 0-0 draw versus Monmouth, and four more as Lehigh beat LIU Brooklyn 4-0.
D Emily Hess, Marquette – It was a big weekend for the rookie, who played 180 minutes in two wins for Marquette. Hess got on the score sheet in her first career start on Thursday in a 2-1 win over Illinois State, and then she won a penalty and had an assist in a 2-1 defeat of Michigan.
D Chloe Froment, Long Beach State – The French youth international assisted on the game winning goal, as her corner kick delivery found the head of Dana Fujikuni in a 1-0 win over ranked foes USC. Froment played 90 minutes at the back in the shutout victory.
D Kadeisha Buchanan, West Virginia – Stepping back into the lineup on Friday night in a Top 10 clash with Clemson, Buchanan helped the Mountaineers lock down the Tigers, securing a shutout in a narrow 1-0 win over the ACC foes.
M Jill Mulholland, Hofstra – With the departure of Leah Galton leaving Hofstra in need of goals, Mulholland stepped up into that gap over the weekend. The midfielder had a hand in all three goals Hofstra scored last week. First, she struck twice in a 2-0 defeat of Boston University, following that up with an assist in a 1-0 win.
M Stefani Doyle, Arkansas – The midfielder scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal as the Razorbacks took down Duke at home by a 2-1 score on Friday. It’s been a strong start to her college career, with four goals in her first three games.
F Ashley Hatch, BYU – Goals in the sixth, 57th and 78th minute won the game for the Cougars against Penn State, a big win for the WCC program.
F Dakota Blazak, UNLV – It’s been a strong start to the season for UNLV, which has four wins from its first four games. Blazak scored three goals in the past week in wins over Eastern Washington and Northern Arizona, as UNLV has its best start in program history.
F Lexi Prillaman, Richmond – Richmond triumphed in an in-state matchup with James Madison, as Prillaman scored four times in the Spiders’ 4-2 victory on August 26.
F Savannah Jordan, Florida – Down 3-2 against UCLA and facing the prospect of two losses over the weekend in California, Jordan had other ideas. The senior scored the tying goal in the 73rd minute, and then setup the game winning goal (an own goal) when her pass was deflected home by a Bruin defender.
F Grace Damaska, Georgetown – A five-goal outburst across two games led Georgetown to a pair of wins. Damaska bagged a hat trick in a 4-0 win over Delaware, and she added two more in a 4-0 victory against Colorado College.
Honorable Mention: F April Cronin (Valparaiso), M Jessie Fleming (UCLA), M Chloe Castenada (UCLA), F Evelyne Viens (South Florida), M Katy Couperus (Cincinnati), F Alani Johnson (Virginia Tech), M Jordan DiBiasi (Stanford), GK Emily Boyd (California)
