BROOKLYN, NEW YORK---Junior forward Gabriel Bagot's fifth goal of the season propelled the Terriers past the defending Northeast Conference champions, Monmouth University, by a 2-1 margin on Friday evening at the Aviator Sports and Recreation Center. 

With the victory the Terriers improved to 7-8-1 and climbed back to .500 in the Northeast Conference at 4-4, while the Hawks stand at 9-4-3 and 4-2-2 in conference contests.

In the 83rd minute, the Nevers, France native created a scoring opportunity for himself as he was able to deke past a Hawk defender but his shot attempt was stopped by Monmouth's Alex Blackburn, who deflected the shot off the right post.  A minute later, Bagot got even after receiving a pass from junior midfielder Viktor Bakkioui as the Terriers went up 2-1 with six minutes to go.

St. Francis scored the first goal of the game, for the tenth straight time, in the 31st minute as senior tri-captain Adam Maabdi  scored his eighth goal of the season off a feed from reigning Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week sophomore forward Kevin Correa.

The Hawks answered right back in the 35th minute as Andres Penfold receiving a long cross from Ryan Clark to even the score at one goal apiece.  For Penfold it was his second of the year while Clark notched his sixth assist of the season. 

In the 67th minute, Maabdi had a chance to tally his second multi-goal game of the season as the Terriers were awarded a penalty kick.  But  Maabdi was denied by a diving save by Blackburn, who launched out of the net to his right to negate the scoring chance. 

St. Francis outshot the Hawks by a 18-10 margin while both teams had five corner kick opportunities.  The victory at home for the Terriers was the first-time since October 24th, 2008, that St. Francis defeated Monmouth at Aviator. 

Senior goalkeeper Tyler Clarhaut recorded five stops in the match, the eighth time this season he has recorded four or more saves, while his counterpart Alex Blackburn stopped nine shots on the evening.

St. Francis will have a quick turnaround and hit the road as they head to Fairfield, Connecticut to tangle with the Sacred Heart University Pioneers on Sunday, October 28th, 2012.  Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
