October 16, 2015
The St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers (9-1-3, 2-0-1 NEC) exploded for five goals in their 5-0 victory over the Saint University Red Flash (6-4-3, 1-1-0 NEC), on Friday evening at Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 5.
The Terriers five goals tied a season high. Junior Yussuf Olajide, sophomore Dominick Falanga, and junior Paul Galimi scored in the first half. Falanga and sophomore Adrian Cosovic added tallies in the second half to put the game out of reach.
Olajide picked up his first goal as a Terrier in the 11th minute when he gathered a loose ball off of a deflection and beat Red Flash goalkeeper Andrew Garcia with a blast inside the right near corner.
SFBK almost added an insurance tally in the 17th minute. Cosovic received the ball in the box and his bicycle kick attempt floated over the goal.
Cosovic created another chance in the 19th minute. His free kick from 30-yards away was denied by Garcia.
The Terriers struck again in the 20th minute. Falanga put his head on a corner kick from sophomore Federico Curbelo, and directed it past Garcia.
Curbelo set up another goal just three minutes later. This time, his perfectly placed corner was volleyed home by Galimi.
St. Francis Brooklyn outshot the Red Flash 12-0 in the first half.
Falanga opened up the scoring in the second half in the 54th minute. He made a run along the end line and and found a way to squeeze the ball into the goal for his second tally of the game and third of the season.
The Terriers struck again in the 68th minute. Cosovic received a nice cross from freshman Toma DeAndrade and then found the back of the net.
The SFBK defense held SFU to just four shots in the match.
Red-shirt senior goalkeeper Jack Binks recorded three saves and his 10th shutout of the season. Binks is now one shutout away from tying Dragan Radovich's single season record.
The Terriers resume their Northeast Conference slate on Sunday afternoon when they host the Robert Morris Colonials. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 5.
