Terriers Win Third Straight
The St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers won their third consecutive contest, defeating the Saint Peter's Peacocks by a 3-2 margin on Sunday afternoon. The Terriers (3-1-0) handed the Peacocks their first loss of the season as the hosts dropped to 1-1-0.
Junior midfielder Sami Gliguem, who scored two goals and added an assist in the Terriers home-opening win against George Washington on Friday evening, scored again to give the Red & Blue a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute. Just like he did against the Colonials, Gliguem headed in a corner kick off the foot of junior midfielder Anthony Gimenes.
Senior Dominick Falanga gave the Terriers a 2-0 lead just eight minutes before halftime as the defender headed in a throw-in by senior midfielder Leo Folla.
The hosts cut the lead in half just three minutes into the second half on a tally by Dominic Laws, however junior forward Ali Tounkara got free in the box and provided the visitors with an insurance marker in the 72nd minute. Gimenes was credited with his second assist of the afternoon.
The Peacocks would add a goal with 2:10 remaining in the contest off the foot of Chris Rodriguez, however, the Terrier defense would deny the hosts the equalizer.
Shots were even at 10 in the contest and the Peacocks had one more corner opportunity, 7-6.
Senior Roberto Bazzichetto made two saves in goal for the Terriers.
St. Francis Brooklyn will travel to Washington D.C. to take on Howard on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
