Three Unanswered Goals Seal Win For UIndy
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Ohio Dominican's men's soccer team couldn't overcome a 3-0 deficit to Indianapolis, falling 3-0 to host Greyhounds on Wednesday evening. With the setback, the Panthers now drop to a 1-1 record on the season.
After the teams battled for a scoreless first half, the Greyhounds opened the scoring with a goal at the 63:01 mark when Reid Strain connected on a pass from Brett Greubel from outside the box to score his second goal of the season. Shortly after, the Panthers found themselves down by two goals as Corey Nelson connected with the back of the net for his first goal of the season at the 69:35 mark.
Looking a 2-0 deficit, the Greyhounds sealed the fate for ODU and the win for the Greyhounds, scoring the third goal from Greubel at the 78:06 mark.
The Panthers totaled four corner kicks compared to the Greyhounds three but Indianapolis outshot the Black & Gold 19-16.
Junior goalie Dean Dziewit (Waterford, Mich.) grabbed eight saves on 11 shots on goal in the loss.
The Panthers will return home as they open up conference play when the University of Findlay travel to Panther field on Sunday, Sep. 9 for a 3:30 p.m. game.
