TopDrawerSoccer Women's DI Top 25: Oct. 22
Is it possible that people are sleeping on UCLA?
Despite being last fall's national runners up, the Bruins fly slightly under the radar this season. But perhaps not for much longer.
UCLA edged into the No. 5 spot in this week's rankings update, extending their winning streak to six games with a 2-1 win against Oregon and a 6-0 defeat of Oregon State over the past week. Jessie Fleming and Hailie Mace are now back for the rest of the college season after competing at the Concacaf Championship with their respective national teams. Even if Stanford and USC are ahead in the Pac-12 standings (and the Top 25) UCLA is going to make noise come tournament time.
Sitting ahead of the Bruins, Georgetown capture the Big East regular season title and moved into the No. 4 spot. The Hoyas now have won 14 games in a row after beating Butler at home on Sunday by a 2-0 score.
