TU Ends Season with 3-0 Loss to #8 Memphis
The Tulsa women’s soccer season came to a close on Thursday night with a 3-0 loss to eighth-ranked Memphis at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. The Golden Hurricane ended the year with an 8-11 overall record and a 2-7 mark in American Athletic Conference play, while the Tigers moved to 16-1-1 overall and 8-0-1 in the league.
“We came out a little flat and went down 2-0, but after the first seven minutes it was almost like the switch flipped and we were able to settle in and I thought we played really well. There were times that we created some great chances, hit the post and had some good one-on-ones, and if we got either one of those goals we were right back in the game. I think today showed that we can play with anybody. They are a really good team, but we were able to make them switch their system and were able to control possession within the midfield.”
Lisa Pechersky put the Tigers on the board with just 2:50 ticked off the clock, and then Tanya Boychuk made it a two-goal cushion in the 7thminute, a lead the Tigers maintained throughout the rest of the first frame.
Memphis picked up a third goal in the 64thminute as Larisey put one into the back of the net.
Memphis had a 22-6 lead in shots, including a 14-2 advantage in shots on goal, and a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.
Emilie Torres had a team-best two shots, while four others had one attempt. Mica MacKay played the first half in goal and picked up eight saves, while Jazmiera Ditter was in goal for the second frame and picked up three saves.
