The Tulsa women’s soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Houston on Sunday afternoon at the Carl Lewis International Complex in Houston, Texas.  The Golden Hurricane fell to 6-6-1 on the season and 1-2 in American Athletic Conference play, while the Cougars moved to 7-7-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the league.

 

“I just felt like we never got in a rhythm and could settle in today,” Head Coach Kyle Cussen said.  “We played a Houston team that had a lot to play for today with their senior day, and there was a lightening delay to start the game so it just seemed like everything was out of rhythm.  We played hard, but it wasn’t the same as we’ve been playing, which was unfortunate.  We have to grow from this, get better and regroup for Thursday as we prepare to host two of the toughest teams in our conference in USF and UCF.”

 

Kaitlyn Wild put Houston on the board at the 58:54 mark as she went one-on-one with TU keeper Mica Mackay, and then Olivia Lee punched in a penalty kick in the 82^nd minute for the 2-0 score.

 

Fabi Miguel had a team-best two shots for TU, while eight others had one attempt.  Mica MacKay logged all 90 minutes in goal and picked up five saves.

 

Houston had a 16-10 lead in shots, including a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal, and a 7-4 lead in corner kicks.

 

Tulsa will return to action on Thursday, October 11 against USF.  Game time is set for 7:00 pm at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.  Following the game the Hurricane will honor its seniors.
