Turner Left Foots No. 5 Mines To Rain-Soaked Double Overtime Win
GOLDEN – Junior Rachael Turner turned on her first score of the season 1:24 into the second overtime and NSCAA No. 5 Colorado School of Mines women's soccer denied upstart Colorado Christian, 1-0, Sunday at CSM Soccer Stadium.

Turner worked a give-and-go with freshman Laya Rybicki, and following a short carry to the top of the penalty arc, lined the left-footed golden goal from 23 yards to the upper, right-90.

In control of the pace of play for much of the afternoon, Mines (10-0-2, 7-0-1 RMAC) outshot the Cougars (3-7-2, 0-7-1 RMAC) 17-7, including 13-3 during the steady rain of the second 45:00 and extra sessions.

Sophomore Anna Deleray had three of the team's nine shot on goals; Turner and Rybicki each collected two, while sophomore Caitlin Kaltenbaugh and freshman Emily Garnier added one apiece.  

Junior keeper Jayln Yates (10-0-2) and the backline combined for their fifth straight shutout – tied for most in program history – and RMAC-best ninth in 11 matches.

Yates made three saves in the 101:24 minutes to move within four blank sheets of the individual conference record and into sole possession of 18th on the Division II career chart with 32.

The women, who are now tied for 11th in the NCAA record book in consecutive conference games without a loss with 34, have not allowed a score in the last 507:33 minutes of game time.

Mines remains home at 5 p.m. on Wednesday against local rival Regis.
