ORONO, Maine - The Dartmouth women's soccer team used two first-half goals en route to a 3-1 road victory over the Maine Black Bears on Friday (Sept. 7) in Orono, Maine. Senior Emma Brush (Grosse Point Park, Mich.) tallied her first career multiple-goal game in the Big Green victory and sends Dartmouth to its second consecutive victory.

The Big Green didn't waste anytime getting on the board using a header from junior midfielder Chrissy Lozier (Fairfield, Conn.) in the 12th minute of action. After breaking into some space, Lozier's noggin connected with pass off the foot of freshman Corey Delaney (Chatham, N.J.) for the first score of the game.

Lozier almost had her second goal of the afternoon shortly after the first, when she teed a shot up the bounced just off the post.

Dartmouth set the tone of the game from the outset and played a very aggressive game on the offensive side of the ball and it showed in the statistics as the Big Green dominated the shots category, 15-9, for the contest and, 11-2, in the first half.

Sophomore goalkeeper Tatiana Saunders (Rye, N.Y.) picked up her second win of the season, making four saves in 83:56 of action in net. Junior Sam Fearer (Mesa, Ariz.) also saw 6:04 in net for the Big Green.

Delaney also picked up her first collegiate points with two assists on the afternoon. Lozier led Dartmouth's attack with four shots while Delaney added three shots.

The aggressive style of play led to another goal for Dartmouth just minutes after Lozier's marker. Brush picked up her first goal game at the 15:41 mark. She connected on another brilliant pass from Delaney and tipped the ball home just out of the reach of Maine goalkeeper Lauren Swant.

Brush's goal sent the Big Green into halftime with a 2-0 lead.

In the second frame, Dartmouth picked up right where it left off with Big Green players accounting for the first three shots of the half. Brush made her shot count and added her second goal in as many shots. She connected with a pass from classmate Libby Hamlin (Vernon, Conn.) and placed it in the net giving the Big Green the 3-0 advantage just seven minutes into the second half.

Maine managed to break through and scored their lone goal of the contest in the 65th minute, but that was as close as the Black Bears would get as the Big Green defense clamped down allowing just three shots the rest of the contest.

Dartmouth opens the 2012 home schedule on Sunday (Sept. 9) when it welcomes 21st-ranked Rutgers to Burnham Field. Kickoff between the Big Green and Scarlet Knights is set for 4:30 p.m.
