SAN DIEGO, Calif. - A pair of Toreros have been selected in the 2009 Women's
Professional Soccer League draft Friday afternoon.  Former University of San
Diego great Leigh Ann Robinson and current senior Brittany Cameron were both
drafted, as well as current USD assistant coach Karen Bardsley.  Bardsley
was drafted No. 18 overall by the Sky Blue organization, Robinson was taken
with the 40th overall pick to the FC Gold Pride team located in the Bay Area
and Cameron was taken No. 52 overall by the Los Angeles Sol.

Cameron, who became was named the WCC's Defender of the Year, helped San
Diego to a second place finish in the WCC standings this season, helped lead
the team to the most wins in conference play in program history and helped
the team advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Dublin,
Calif. native posted four shutouts in seven WCC games to rank second in the
conference. Overall, she posted nine shutouts, and posted an
goals-against-average of 0.75.

Robinson, a San Diego native and 2007 graduate of USD, had an outstanding
senior season in helping lead the Toreros to a program-best 15-3-3 record
and a second place finish in conference and a program-best No. 9 national
ranking. Robinson recorded five goals and seven assists for 17 points in her
final year with the Toreros. She was also named first-team All-West Coast
Conference as a junior and senior, was named second-team All-West Region by
the NSCAA and first-team All-West Region by Soccerbuzz during her senior
campaign.

Bardsley, a first-year coach on Ada Greenwood's staff, helped guide the
Toreros to a second place finish in the WCC this season and into the second
round of the NCAA Tournament.  Bardsley was a stand-out member of the Cal
State Fullerton women's soccer program from 2002-2006. She left Fullerton as
the career record holder in every major goalkeeping category, holding the
records for victories (47), goals-against-average (0.84), saves (312) and
minutes played (6,395). In her junior year of 2005, she set the
single-season record for GAA (0.64), victories (16) and shutouts with 10 en
route to leading the Titans to the Sweet-16 of the NCAA Tournament. She was
named the Big West Conference's Goalkeeper of the Year for three consecutive
seasons, the only player in the history of the conference to achieve this
honor. During her outstanding collegiate career, Bardsley was a two-time
All-West Region selection by the NSCAA and a three-time Soccerbuzz All-West
Region selection.
