U20 WNT continue to cruise at Concacaf
It was another multi-goal performance featuring a shutout for the U.S. U20 WNT at the Concacaf Championship on Saturday. Facing St. Lucia in a Round of 16 match, the U.S. scored four times in the first half en route to a 6-0 win.
Mia Fishel continued to enjoy a torrid tournament, adding two more goals to her haul at the competition hosted in the Dominican Republic. She once again helped the U.S. off to a strong start with a goal in the eighth minute, and the U.S. scored again via an own goal in the 14th minute.
A strike from Sierre Enge made it 3-0 in the 24th minute, before a Brianna Pinto goal 10 minutes before the half ensured the U.S. went into the break holding a comfortable lead.
Sophia Smith made her competition debut, entering the game as a substitute in the second half, while Fishel and Pinto both added to their goal totals in the 76th and 90th minute respectively.
The U.S. will face Canada in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, March 4, looking to stay on track for a U20 World Cup spot.
