U20 WNT cruise in Concacaf opener
Six goals in the first half propelled the U.S. Under-20 Women's National Team to an easy 9-0 win against Cuba in Saturday's Concacaf Championship.
UCLA freshman Mia Fishel provided the bulk of that first-half offense, scoring four times before the break to put the U.S. up by six. Brianna Pinto and Alexa Spaanstra also tallied goals in the game's first 45 minutes.
Spaanstra and fellow forward Trinity Rodman acted as conduits, setting up the first five goals in game, as the U.S. were in front by a 3-0 score just over 15 minutes into the matchup.
Substitutes Summer Yates and Samantha Meza got in on the scoring act after entering the game in the second half, before a Brianna Pinto goal in the 90th minute rounded out the scoring.
Next up for the U.S. is a matchup the Dominican Republicon Monday, February 24.
