UCF Falls to Tulsa, 1-0
ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF fell 1-0 to Tulsa on Saturday afternoon at the UCF Soccer Complex. The lone goal came in the 12th minute by Lesley Nchangi of the Golden Hurricane.
"I thought that we had a lot of energy coming into the game," head coach Bryan Cunningham said. "We got put on our back foot by a great Tulsa team that possessed the ball early. We played ourselves into trouble, which caused the first goal. After that, the game opened up and we had plenty of chances."

AT THE HALF
- Tulsa struck first in the 12th minute on a nice feed from Ray Saari in the midfield to Lesley Nchangi, whose one-touch shot in the box beat the keeper.
- During the 36th minute, freshman Zackary Waitman streaked down the left wing and sent a cross to Barry, but his shot from the middle was saved by the goalkeeper.
- Junior goalkeeper Zach Biggs made four of his six saves for the Knights in the first half including a pair that were inside the six-yard box.
"It did not bother me so much that we gave up an early goal," Cunningham said. "We just did not react the same way that we did in our last game. The other night we gave up a goal, which was a blunder as well. We reacted better, came back, got on top of the ball and went for it a little more."
LAST SECOND OPPORTUNITIES
- It was a busy last five minutes for Tulsa keeper Marcel Da Silva, who made three stops.
- The Knights totaled five shots during that span.
- Senior Mason Miller had a header inside the 18-yard box that was the best opportunity of the bunch, but the keeper was in perfect position.
- Both teams finished with 14 shots.
DUBOSE RECOGNIZED
- The Knights honored UCF Hall of Famers Winton DuBose and Jim Rudy at halftime.
- DuBose gave back to the program with an endowed scholarship and funded the completion of an improved soccer locker room over the summer.
- Rudy was the longtime head coach of the men's and women's programs during their infancy.
NEXT UP
- The Knights conclude a three-match on Oct. 13 against Stetson.
- The first 50 students score a Knightro October Bobblehead, which represents the annual homecoming tradition, Spirit Splash.
