TRITONS SEEK RECORD NINTH CCAA BANNER IN POMONA
The UC San Diego women's soccer team continues its postseason run in the 2015 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Tournament this weekend in Pomona. The fourth-seeded Tritons (13-5-1, 7-4-1 CCAA) have advanced through to the semifinals, and traveled north on Thursday. They will take on 10th-ranked, top-seeded, regular-season champion Sonoma State (13-1-3) in the second semifinal at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6. Cal Poly Pomona is the first-time host of the men's and women's semifinals and finals, at Kellogg Field. The first women's semi pits second-seeded Chico State (12-4-2) against sixth-seeded Stanislaus State (11-5-3), with an 11 a.m. kickoff for that one.

Friday's victors will meet in the CCAA Tournament final on Sunday, Nov. 8, with a 12:30 p.m. start at Kellogg Field. Once again this year, the tournament champion earns the conference's automatic entry into the NCAA Championship. UCSD is 4-3 away from home in 2015.

MATCHDAY
General admission for the 2015 CCAA Tournament is $10 for a full day's action. Entry for students, youth and seniors is $5. Children aged two and under are admitted free. The ticket booth will open one hour prior to kickoff time of the first game of the day. Parking is $7 for Friday and $4 for Sunday, with permits available for purchase at the yellow kiskos in Lot B. All games will have both live video and live stats, free of charge courtesy of Bronco Athletics. FRIDAY MATCHUP
Friday's CCAA semifinal will see one of the league's top scoring teams in UCSD, go up against its stingiest defense in Sonoma State. The Tritons are tied for second in the conference with Cal State Dominguez Hills, one behind Stanislaus State, with 34 goals scored. Sonoma State has conceded just five on the year in its 17 matches, with a mere three in CCAA play. Cal State L.A. is next with 14 scores allowed. Only one team nationally in Division II has surrendered fewer goals, West Virginia Wesleyan with two. SSU's goals-against average of .280 ranks second behind only WVWC (.106). Though UCSD's potent strike tandem of Mary Reilly (72) and Katie O'Laughlin (59) are the CCAA's top two shot-takers, they were held to three and zero, respectively, at Sonoma State on Oct. 18.

CCAA TOURNAMENT HISTORY
The Tritons are in search of a record ninth CCAA title, with the last one coming in 2012. They are making a 15th CCAA Tournament appearance, more than any other current member, in their 16th season in the conference. UCSD only missed the event in 2013. Prior to Wednesday's 4-1 home triumph over Cal Poly Pomona in the first round, the Tritons fell 2-0 at CPP in the first round last Nov. 2. They were eliminated in the semifinals of three straight CCAA tournaments, all in Turlock, with the first two after penalty-kick tiebreakers, in between banners in 2008 in La Jolla and 2012 in Carson. UCSD is 15-4-4 over its 15 appearances.

FIELD IN POMONA
Joining UCSD and Sonoma State in Pomona are second-seeded Chico State and No. 6 seed Stanislaus State. The Tritons beat both of those teams during the regular season, 4-0 in Chico and 1-0 at home, respectively, finishing the latter contest with just nine players after two red cards. They fell at Sonoma State, 1-0, but have won six of their last seven around that defeat. The Tritons are an unbeaten 2-0-1 against Sonoma State in CCAA tourney games, all in Carson, including a 1-0 win in the 2000 final to mark UCSD's first league banner, and a 1-1 draw in the 2012 final. The Tritons prevailed on penalty kicks, 4-2. They are 2-0 against Chico State and 1-1 versus Stan State at CCAA tournaments.

LAST TIME OUT
UCSD routed fifth-seeded Cal Poly Pomona in a first-round match at home on Wednesday afternoon, 4-1. The contest was originally scheduled for Tuesday night, but severe weather, specifically lightning, caused two lengthy delays and prevented its completion. Katie O'Laughlin opened and capped the Triton scoring with her second brace of the year, both coming against the Broncos, with Mary Reilly and Jordyn McNutt also getting on the scoresheet. Reilly and Elisa Martinez were each credited with a pair of assists, with McNutt providing her team-best eighth from a corner kick on O'Laughlin's second. Kelcie Brodsky made eight saves in net.

TRITONS IN REGION POLLS
The third installment of the all-important, official NCAA regional polls was unveiled on Wednesday, Nov. 4, with UCSD maintaining the fourth position in the West. The top six teams in the final version of that listing, set for a live reveal on Monday, Nov. 9, qualify for the 2015 NCAA Championship. The selection show will air live on NCAA.com at 3:30 p.m. PT that afternoon. UCSD is rated fifth in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) West Region poll.

LATE-SEASON MAGIC DUPLICATED
With their backs against the wall last year, the Tritons went 5-0-1 over their last six conference matches, surrendering just a single goal with four of those contests on the road, to earn a return trip to the CCAA tournament after their first-ever absence from the event in 2013. This season, UCSD went 4-1 in its last five league tilts, again with only one goal conceded, that coming in a 1-0 loss at then-11th-ranked Sonoma State, to make it back to the postseason. Three of those games were away from home. The Tritons have since defeated Cal State San Marcos (2-0) in a non-conference regular-season finale (10/30), and Cal Poly Pomona (4-1) in the CCAA Tournament first round (11/4). They had not conceded a goal for 399:29 prior to CPP's late tally Wednesday afternoon.

REILLY REALLY MAKES MARK ON COLLEGE GAME
Mary Reilly, a true freshman locally out of Chula Vista and Hilltop High School, leads the CCAA with 10 goals scored, four game-winning goals (tied), 72 shots taken and 47 shots on goal. She is second with 25 total points (tied), and has 21 more shots on goal than the next closest player. The forward hit for an incredible four goals in a 4-2 win at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday night, Oct. 2, becoming the first Triton to do so since former All-American Megan Dickey during an 11-0 home victory over Central Washington more than a decade before on Sept. 8, 2005. Reilly has set a new mark for most goals scored by a true freshman, at least for UCSD's Division II era, since 2000.

BRODSKY BROADENS CAREER CREDENTIALS
Kelcie Brodsky continues to add to her stellar numbers as UCSD's fourth-year starting goalkeeper. Having set the program's single-season saves mark at 114 as a true freshman in 2012, she broke the career standard in that category in the final game of her junior campaign. She then eclipsed the 300-save mark with her seventh in the 56th minute at Azusa Pacific (9/10), reaching double figures for a single contest for the second time as she finished with 11. Brodsky's career total stands at 372. She is second in the CCAA with 87 on the year, having twice led the league in saves, in 2012 (114) and 2014 (83). At home against Point Loma (9/5), she kept her 20th individual shutout as a Triton, and now has eight on the year and 27 in all. The Agoura Hills product has received postseason recognition from the CCAA for each of her first three years. She made the All-CCAA Second Team as a freshman and junior, garnering All-CCAA honorable mention in between. Brodsky is second this season in the CCAA in shutouts (tied) and goalie minutes (1752:34), third in save percentage (.845), and fourth in goals-against average (0.82).

BRODSKY SWEEPS NATIONAL AND CONFERENCE WEEKLY HONORS
Kelcie Brodsky was named on Oct. 27 both among the NSCAA College Players of the Week, and as the CCAA Player of the Week, for the week of Oct. 19-25. She made a total of 10 saves while keeping a pair of shutouts as UCSD won its final two CCAA contests, clinching a berth in the 2015 CCAA Tournament with the latter result on Oct. 23, a 4-0 decision at Chico State. Brodsky played a major role in UCSD going 4-1 over its final five conference matches with four shutout triumphs and just one goal surrendered during the stretch in a 1-0 road loss at then-11th-ranked league leader Sonoma State.

O'LAUGHLIN A CCAA PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sophomore striker Katie O'Laughlin earned CCAA Player of the Week distinction for the first time in her career on Sept. 29. The Carlsbad product accounted for the decisive goal in UCSD home victories on Sept. 25 and Sept. 27, representing her first game-winning tallies as a Triton. She is second on the team with nine goals, 20 total points, 59 shots and 26 shots on goal for the year.

YOUTH BEING SERVED
A total of 29 of UCSD's 34 goals this season have come from first- or second-year collegians, with 10 by freshman Mary Reilly, nine by sophomore Katie O'Laughlin, and three each by sophomore Jordyn McNutt and freshman Megumi Barber. The other nine scores have come from freshmen Summer Bales and Danielle Nunn, sophomores Elisa Martinez and Taylor Ramos, redshirt junior Kiera Bocchino (two), junior Jamie Benedetto, and redshirt sophomore Maxia Espino (two). Underclassmen have also been the providers of 24 of 34 assists, with eight by McNutt, five by Reilly, three by Martinez, and two each by Bales, Barber and O'Laughlin. UCSD had a season high of six true freshmen or sophomores in its starting lineup in three straight matches from Sept. 12-18. Goalkeeper Kelcie Brodsky is the only senior who has seen action.

UCSD has its most wins since going 17-3-4 in 2012 as the national runner-up ... The Tritons completed the 12-game CCAA season alone in fourth with 22 points from a 7-4-1 league mark ... Mary Reilly is the Tritons' first 10-goal-scorer since former All-American Cassie Callahan hit for 10 in 2012 ... Katie O'Laughlin is second in the CCAA in goals (tied-nine), shots (59) and shots on goal (26), behind only strike partner Mary Reilly ... HEAD COACH BRIAN McMANUS
Brian McManus is in his 29th season in charge of the UCSD women's soccer program. With a career record of 463-84-51, he has achieved the most wins (one more than Gabe Mejail of Merrimack College) in NCAA Division II women's soccer history, and fifth-most for all divisions. McManus' career winning percentage heading into 2015 of .820, ranked among the top 10 in college women's soccer annals, both overall (No. 9) and Division II only (No. 4). He was also second in win percentage among active Division II coaches. McManus has directed UCSD to seven national titles and a record eight CCAA banners, with the Tritons advancing to the national semifinals a remarkable 15 times in his 28 years. Under his guidance, UCSD has qualified for the NCAA Championship all 13 seasons during the Division III days, and all but three (2004, 2013-14) of 15 years since the move up to Division II. McManus' Tritons missed the CCAA Tournament for the first time in 2013, having earned 13 straight berths after joining the conference. They rallied late to achieve a return trip a year ago, and are back again for a 15th time.

JONESY NOW ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH
Kristin Jones, a two-time national champion and two-time All-American as one of the greatest players to ever come through the storied UCSD women's soccer program, was elevated by Brian McManus to the position of associate head coach on Aug. 28. She is in her 16th straight year as a Triton, and 12th on the UCSD bench. Jones joined McManus' staff immediately upon exhausting her eligibility, ahead of the 2004 season, and became his top assistant in 2006.

ABOUT THE SEAWOLVES
No. 10 Sonoma State (13-1-3, 10-0-2 CCAA) finished atop the CCAA standings, seven points clean of its closest competition. The Seawolves have won three straight, and are unbeaten in their last 15 at 12-0-3. SSU has conceded just five goals, with two in their only defeat (2-0), at second-ranked Western Washington back on Sept. 5, and the other three in a trio of 2-1 league victories. The Seawolves have also played to three scoreless draws. SSU posted nine straight shutouts ahead of a 2-1 triumph at Cal Poly Pomona in its most recent match on Oct. 31. The Seawolves are 8-1-2 away from home. Emiria Salzmann Dunn, the 2012 CCAA Coach of the Year, is in her fifth year in charge.

SERIES HISTORY
UCSD leads the all-time series, 16-2-3, but lost to SSU for just the second time in this season's regular-season meeting in Rohnert Park, 1-0 on Oct. 18. Marissa Marable tallied the lone goal in the 18th minute. The Tritons took a critical 1-0 victory on the road late last season when Sonoma State was ranked 15th. Their first defeat to the Seawolves was a 3-2 decision in La Jolla on Sept. 29, 2013. Margi Osmundson tallied the 86th-minute winner in that one. The 2012 matchup in Rohnert Park ended in a scoreless draw. When the teams face off on Friday in Pomona, it will mark the third straight matchup in which Sonoma State was ranked in the top 15 nationally.
