#UDWSOC WINS HOME OPENER 2-0 OVER GAUCHOS
DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's soccer team defeated UC Santa Barbara 2-0 Friday night at Baujan Field in its home opener. The Flyers improve to 1-1-1 while dealing the Gauchos (2-1-0) their first loss of the season.
Junior Nicole Waters scored the game-winning goal in the 63rd minute on an assist from sophomore Erin O'Malley. Waters also had an assist on junior Ashley Campbell's header in the 73rd minute to pad UD's lead. Water's has a team-leading 10 points this season.
The game was called in the 87th minute due to lightning. The game is official and counts towards both teams' records.
Sophomore goalkeeper Elizabeth James had five saves and her first shutout of 2014 for the Flyers.
UD hosts Murray State this Sunday, Aug. 31 at Baujan Field at 1 p.m.
